The Day of the Dead
The day of the dead is a annual Mexican holiday. It celebrates the people that have passed. The Mexicans do a lot for this holiday. For this holiday they make altars, decorate their grave stone, and have a party.
Altars
Altars are little or big things that show the person’s personality. In alters are candles, flowers, and things that they loved. Here are some examples of altars.
Decorate Their Grave Stone
Another thing Mexicans do are cleaning/decorating their grave stone. Cleaning means polishing or if it is painted you touch up the paint. Also you could put some flowers next to their grave stone.
Sugar Skull Festival
The sugar skull festival is sort of like a party. It starts at midnight on October 31 going into November 1. A sugar scull is representation of a human skull. The term is most often applied to decorative or edible skulls made (usually by hand) from either sugar or clay which are used in the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead . People also dress up as sugar skulls for the party.
Thanks for the interesting report Erin-I learned a lot! I especially enjoyed the pictures that you included! :)
